I am a self taught oil painter living in Dallas, Texas creating art that is really an expression of my own experiences, my incessant curiosity, and a never-ending string of epiphanies about myself and the world.

I have a somewhat weird brain where I cannot actually see images in my “mind’s eye” – it’s essentially blind. As a result of this rather odd way of thinking,  I fill my paintings with symbolism and surrealism. In other words, because I tend to think in ideas that represent pictures, with my hands I make pictures that represent ideas.

I am especially passionate about using my work to send a loud, visual message to other women that it’s okay to ignore the expectations society holds for them and live their own lives however they please.

Some of the themes that pop up over and over in my work include issues of motherhood, reinterpretations of mythology, and a critical look at cultural norms and assumptions.

I find myself truly grateful for the therapeutic possibilities that exist in a surreal artistic landscape to play with ideas about why things are the way they are and whether other options exist, for better or worse.
